Well isn't that just ducky. The two crucial software programs I use at work are non-functional and/or suddenly nonexistant on my computer. Just mine. I'm a Quality Assurance Associate for a social networking website (basically a dot com, but we got bought out by a marketing company a few years back so we're no longer a start-up.)
Basically I break web pages for a living. My daily tasks include:
(a) I test for bugs in the code that the developers have written, basically by using the website and seeing that it works.
(b) I dream up ways features could possibly break before they're actually written, to help the developers foresee and avoid problems when they go to write the code.
(c) I play around on the site monitoring for, and I'm quoting my manager on this one, "crappy user experience."
2) How did you get this job? How did you first gain entry into your company or organization?
I was recommended for the position by my friend locke61dv, and after a series of interviews I started work here 3.5 weeks ago.
3) Do you like your job?
God yes. There hasn't been a day since I started that I haven't felt like asking someone to pinch me. This office has a fantastic atmosphere and the work is stimulating and engaging without being too arduous.
4) What is your dream job?
I'm tempted to answer "being filthy rich" but that's kind of a cop-out. I guess maybe running a large, profitable LARP? Or developing for a roleplaying game? Something where I get to be geeky and plugged into the games I love, but also part of some community, because I need people around me or I'd go 'round the bend.
