So, okay, I AM a bit leery of the x-Ray machines at the airport. Especially having had 2 separate x-rays this month, getting another no matter how minescule didn't appeal to me. I thought long and hard about whether I should just opt for the manual pat down, should I be asked to go through one of those things. I decided that on Thursday, I would just go through if asked on my way to or from Dallas. On the way to Dallas, I was asked to go through the x-Ray thing. I stepped inside, raised my arms, placed my feet on the foot markings, feeling like a criminal. The machine buzzed and then they asked me to step out, stand on another set of foot markings, lift my arms, so that they could do a manual pat-down.
Are you fucking kidding me? apparently the Plastic gold buttons on my skirt are a problem. So I had to be patted down my front and crotch. God Damn, If I had known that I would have just done the pat down in the first place. Thanks for the added Cancer risk, assholes!
From now on it's manual pat down. Fuckers.
in other news, my grandma is currently on her deathbed. She was given her last rights this morning. This is my grandma Janie, who was hit by the truck about 10 years ago, flew around a bus after not having been strapped in properly, and is in general a tough old bitch. If I am a tough woman, I get it from her. She was mean at times, a total drama queen, and loving and full of laughter and lots of piss and vinegar. She lived through the depression, but didn't remember having to worry much. She used to make beer with her mom in the bathtub during prohibition. She taught me how to cook, and clean so well you could eat off the floors. She gave me a little decorative plate when I was a kid that said, "when Mother says no, Ask Grandma.". when she gave it to me, she said, "but don't ask me, if your mamma says no, that's it.". It hands in Olives room along with the picture of Jesus She gave us at the same time.
Also, my cousin is in ICU at MD Anderson Cancer center here in Houston. He isn't doing well. a few months ago, they found brain Tumors. he had surgery to remove them, Went through radiation and Chemo, and they found more. He had another surgery. last week, he started having seizures. He's heavily sedated and is still having them. he's also got blood clots in his legs.
It's been a shitty month. we were really looking forward to my sister coming down for thanksgiving. she came down with Pneumonia and had to cancel her trip.
Today was my nephew's going away party. he leaves Dec 5th for boot camp for the Navy. He'll be on a submarine. His job will be pushing the Fire button. Lovely.
