Work. Eat. Sleep. Repeat.

That's been pretty much it lately.  Still loving the job.  Some of my co-irkers, not so much, which is to be expected.  However, I DID tell Overprivileged 19 Year Old Twitwaffle--and this is his first kitchen job, mind you--that he WILL NOT mansplain shit to me, because I have been in this business almost twice as long as he's been alive and I have kids older than he is.  Yup, managed to get myself into a position where I am the oldest person and only woman the kitchen.  And still not king...er, manager.  Which, frankly, I don't want.  The dude who got tapped for it is someone I've worked with before (at 3 different places.  All of which failed.  We privately joke that we're keeping our indeed.com accounts open, just in case) and, frankly, I don't want his headaches for 25 cents more an hour.

And, honestly, I'm de facto assistant manager anyway.  I'm in first.  I make the prep list.  I am apparently the only one who keeps track of inventory.  When the manager isn't there, the staff comes to me for their marching orders (which has the added benefit of making the 19 year old BONKERS.  I swear, he is not going to last.  The owner is his godfather, and even HE is getting sick of his shit).

I love that this part time gig has morphed into a 35+ hour a week job.  Is it kicking my ass?  Yes.  But it's a semi-regular schedule.  I have every Sunday off.  I know every day I work 9-4ish (I won't leave if we have tickets on the board.  That's just not me).  I have a boss who thanks me for my hard work when I leave (!?!?!?!?).  And did I mention the free end of shift beer?

As an additional benefit, the little strip mall where we're situated has a tienda (toasted chile lime chickpeas are the best work snack EVER), a thrift store (I got unicorn salt and pepper shakers!  For two bucks!), and a Whole Foods where I spend an obscene amount of time due to the wildly unpredictable bus schedule.  Hey, I don't get ugly looks if there are days I don't have enough cash for a cup of tea or one of their mind-blowingly good raspberry cheese croissants and just sit nd write for 30 minutes.

So, yeah, life is pretty good right now.  As a bonus, the spousebeast and I had a whole day off together yesterday...where we did more or less nothing but listen to music, play Munchkin, make yummy food, and [redacted].  It is SO NICE having similar schedules again.  The whole opposite schedule thing was NOT good for us.  We're having more meals together, going to bed at the same time (except on nights when I have had to put up the truck.  Then I'm lucky if I can stay awake past Jeopardy! before I faceplant into bed), and reconnecting.  He's not just my weirdo roommate anymore!  Yay!
