A fascination with the stars,
he said,
will not give you any new answers.
I sigh, agree, shrug,
allowing fingers to close around mine.
Still sneaking a glance skyward,
mouthing an apology to the stars that
I didn't mean it.
They twinkle back so knowingly,
the moon winks a slow sure smile to show
that she knew my loyalty still held.
I smile at their insights
and he thinks I'm smiling for him.
No problem making two happy with one gesture.
The sky, stars, moons, planets,
make up such a vast person.
Deeper than I can go,
with knowledge flowing on forever
in all directions.
It leaves me knowing nothing.
Turning my back to his world
I immerse myself in velvet sky.
