It's been a Pros-y sort of a week

I've been watching eps in dribs and drabs, and then I thought why not just bite the bullet (see what I did there?) and actually sit down and watch the show from go to whoa. I have PFL/Ms Moat's story Coda sitting on the e-reader, and I'm sure I'll appreciate it better for a rewatch, right?

My DVD set goes according to production order rather than screening order, so I got to watch Old Dog with New Tricks, Longshot and Where the Jungle Ends all together, and I think that I'm glad that original viewers saw a different order, because, really, those three eps are not the best introduction to the series. Everyone is still feeling their way, both actors and production crew, and it shows. Some of the rerecording of voices where the sound didn't work out right is painfully over-emphatic, and some of Lewis's stuff needs something - to be hauled back or put in a different context or something. Plus also, Ramos? Most unconvincing international hitman ever. Otoh, while I know that some people don't find David Suchet's Krivas works for them, he had the convincing psychopath glare in his eyes as far as I was concerned. Pity about how they overdid some of the back-story scenes for Bodie though.

By the time I got to Killer With a Long Arm and Heroes, I was thinking to myself 'that's more like it.'Everything is smoother in the production, and the character moments are a lot more natural and aren't screaming 'As you know, my back-story is...' at the top of their metaphorical voices. Also, Heroes has Tommy McKay. My god did John Castle have fun. That good old time seventies sexism is pretty damn ick, though.... But I will be brave, and carry on.

Having enjoyed my Pros time, there's a TS story that needs to be written. Right then.

ETA: In honour of NZ Music Month, let's have the obligatory Muttonbirds song. This one is for the Pros fans. It's called "Ray", and I think it works as a Pros song. :-)
