Teaching Buffy
A friend of mine is teaching Year 12 English in Sydney at the moment and emailed me to ask a question about what he should teach... As part of the extension course he is teaching Buffy the Vampire Slayer "to demonstrate both the evolution of the Gothic genre, and the illustration of the teenage experience by Joss Whedon." To do this he has to show 5 episodes. Basically he had 4 in mind but wasn't sure about the 5th and wanted my opinion. His eventual list was: Welcome to the Hellmouth, Faith, Hope and Trick, Earshot, Fool for Love and Once More, With Feeling. It got me thinking what episodes i'd choose. I'm not sure if i'd use all of them. Some I can see why he's chosen them and others i'd definitely use. But just wondering what 5 episodes of Buffy would you show to teach that?
