Two Weeks from Now...
I'll be back in London this time on holiday rather than working. I've been watching the dollar crash further and further over the last two weeks with a growing sense of dread. At least it's not as bad as the first time I went over when $1 bought 33 pence. At the moment at least it's 40 but i'm still expecting it to crash further.
So with the trip we now have Eurail passes sorted (well Rox sorted them for us). Looks like we'll be going to Prague, Austria, Italy, Spain and France. Still not entirely sure how we're working all the days in yet but both Rox and I have things we have to see and then things we want to see so hopefully we can get all the have to see's done. Have to say i'm really looking forward to Rome most of all.
We have vague plans for a couple of places for Europe but we aren't really planning it much just getting the passes and then getting the trains when we are want to move on. So it could be very laid back or seriously stressful when the places we've earmarked for accommodation are booked out. Either way I guess we'll see as we go. Last night we started shopping for the trip so it's beginning to feel very close. Oh and if anyone has any recc's for places to see or things to do please feel free to share!
My plan is to go as technology free as possible. I'll still have my iPod and phone but i'm not taking any gadgets other than my camera. I went out today to buy a travel journal and actually planning on writing stuff rather than typing which will be odd for me but i'm cutting back on taking stuff cause i have to bring back extra stuff from the UK that's still stashed at friends places there. Besides I always overpack and then never use half of it so i'm underpacking this time. I will try and send postcards so if anyone wants a postcard from anywhere in particular let me know now.
As for the remainder of my time here it's gonna be a crazy week. I've been guilt-tripped into going to Newcastle tomorrow, Sunday is I_Palimpsest's baby shower, Monday I have dinner with Taiwanese Hiro and his wife, Tuesday and Wednesday i'm free, Thursday I have dinner with the Yuppie Country Boy and Friday i'm out with the Powerpuff fan and then Saturday i'm back to Newcastle for lunch with friends (because of course they were busy on the day my mother decided I had to come). And packing will hopefully happen on Sunday considering i'm still working on Monday and Tuesday before flying out on Wednesday.
As for work i've now been officially extended (with paperwork completed and everything!) so i'll have four days to recover when i get back before coming back out here for another three months before uni (hopefully). My applications are all in for that as well so I don't have anything else to worry about until i find out if i've been accepted anywhere.
But I still have a to-do list about a mile long... so here it is just so I can remember to do stuff.

Rip the Language for Travelers CD's that came free with the paper and put them on my iPod
Do lots of washing
Clean room
Charge batteries for camera
Buy new memory card for camera
Work out tickets for Ani Difranco concert
