“Just rethink everything,” I offer, letting you slip from my grasp.
You don’t respond, just keep looking at the floor. Maybe letting you go was a mistake. Maybe if I held on, something would have come to mind for you to say, some byproduct of emotion. But, no, you just stand there looking at the floor.
Then, without saying a word, you turn and leave.
