Still alive!

I haven't updated this journal in a very long time... Real life's been kinda tough, with exams and work and some personal problems. I'm back now that vacations have started!

I thought I'd write down some of my thoughts on the recent events concerning Kanjani8 and what I'm going to work on. So this is an update to my Eito log!

1. Subaru

I think all Eighters know by now that Subaru is leaving the group in July. I was able to read the news on the fanclub website as soon as they came out. When I refreshed the page and saw the message, my mind went blank. I just couldn't believe it... I never expected Subaru to leave. He was the soul of K8 to me, with his amazing voice and love for music and inappropriate jokes.

I've accepted all this now, mainly thanks to the support shown by the other members. I truly believe that their bond is tight and if they're willing to cheer their close friend on for his new journey, so should the fans in my opinion. I also respect Subaru's determination and how he left without keeping a backup plan (by saying that he will stay in the group and just leave temporarily to study music, for example). It shows that he's ready to give it his all for his dream.

Seeing Yoko cry during the press conference was heartbreaking. I can feel that he really, really wanted Subaru to stay, after spending all these years together struggling to reach the top. Eito's really come a long way. Okura's words during the press conference might seem childish to some, saying how he didn't want to be there but that he just can't hate Subaru. But the night before the announcement, on his radio show, he told a listener who called in that "rather than telling your children you chose a job you didn't like but still kept going at it, it's cooler to tell them you chose a job you like". He was showing his support for Subaru while sounding like he would cry...

I still love all seven of them, and I'll keep supporting Kanjani8 for as long as I can. In fact...

2. Concert

I'm going to the GR8EST concert in Nagoya in July! All three days! I joined the official fanclub through a friend in Japan and won tickets together with other Eighters.

It's sad how I won't get the chance to see Subaru in person. But the other members made the decision not to include Subaru in this concert (even though he officially quits JE at the end of the year only) to show that they can still go on with six members. They didn't want to turn this into Subaru's graduation concert. I think it's a good way of reassuring the fans that they are still the Kanjani8 we love.

I can't wait to see the concert and I really hope I'll get good seats!

3. Translating

School kept me really busy and I haven't done much translating. I just posted two translated songs earlier and am working on two other requests, Samurai Song and Noroshi. I should get them done by June, and I can do more requests in June, if anyone has any.

About subbing, I was trying to figure out Aegisub but there's a bug in the Mac version and I can't work with it anymore. I found a new software and hopefully I'll be able to sub an episode of Chronicle soon! (I just need to work on my laziness first.)

life, eito, kanjani8
