Open letter to the folks of the municipality office.

Dear people of the municipality,

Why did you take it? Why did you have to rob me of my entertainment, my shade and my indicator of the seasons? You cut down a tree that as far as I could see looked perfectly healthy and wasn't bothering anyone. It was higher than the floor I live on, the eighth; it was probably at least as old as the building I live in.

There was a nest in the top, and I can't remember a year there wasn't a couple of birds using it. I liked that, it was fun to see. All I have now when I look out my window is an even better view of the gardens of people I don't know who probably don't appreciate me being able to see into their gardens. I miss my birds. There were already new tenants this year!

My window is on a sunny side of the building; light and heat shine in mercilessly here in summer. I had at least an illusion of shade when the tree was still there; I fear for how it will be this year.

I liked seeing the tree grow buds, then leaves, going into autumn colours and finally shedding it all for a few months. There is a lovely park outside the building but it is not on a side where I can see it. I almost feel like I live in a concrete jungle now that my friend is gone!

And last but not least, you morons: did you have to start sawing and cutting and shredding and droning and drilling and whatever it was you did to produce that awful racket at 8:15 in the morning? Dayum!

random, grr!
