Back To Yangshuo...
Yangshuo is a fantastic place to spend a few days, but then it is nice to be home again. And by home I mean Guilin. The last few days were nothing short of amazing...
First I had breakfast with Xue Lin. I go to work an hour early every day and wait for her. I say it's because I like to be up early, but not at bloody seven o'clock in the morning. =P She was dressed nicely and happy to be going on another fieldtrip. She had on a new pair of sunglasses and looked very cool. We had some drinks and bread while we waited for the other teachers and students to arrive. Altogether there were to be about one hundred people going on the trip. CRIKEY, A SHITLOAD. At first I thought it was impossible, but it worked - But not without problems...
I ended up on the same bus as Xue Lin (ACE!!!). One of her classes and one of mine. She didn't know what to do for entertainment, so I had to play hero. I made everyone sing. Why, do you ask, did they listen? Because I threatened to have them sing in the city centre (Which I later made them do anyways... MWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!). And so we sang, including me, of course. Xue Lin and I (Despite her embarrassment) were even forced into a duet of My Heart Will Go On, by Celine Dion. I enjoyed it. I can do anything I want, because in the end I'm a crazy foreigner in their eyes, anyways. Now, after this trip of madness, I'm considered even crazier.
Later we arrived in Yangshuo and we first went directly to our small hotel. There were three hotels as to accomodate everyone. Again I lucked out when I was placed in the same hotel as Xue Lin. When we were all finnished putting away our things it was time to eat our lunch. It was somewhat of a hell trying to arrange everything with so many students. Then we had to split up and Xue Lin went to another restaurant with Nick and Jean-Francois, whilst I went with Dorota. When I entered the restaurant I was immediately guided to the stage to sing. I was surprised, but my singing is pretty good these says. I sang, My Heart Will Go On, Can You Feel The Love Tonight?, and This Love, amongst others. My students sang with me, after some more threatening.
The food was way too spicy at that time and when we had finnished eating we played some card games - Chinese style - and discussed many things. Then we were permited to do as we wished and I left the restaurant. I went to search for a colourful rice-paper parasol because 1) She didn't have one at the time and 2) The one she had in Guilin was olde and ugly. I found a nice darkblue one with pink flowers and returned to the restaurant. Again I had to do everything and Dorota was as uninteresting as possible and didn't help me.
Later, we didn't know what to do anymore. The students got crazy and the teachers were without a clue. They asked me to take them somwhere. "Sure", I said, and took them somewhere. Finally, after a few hours we arrived at a river. I said that I was hot and put my head under water. Then I said: " Oké, let's head back," "What?!!!", they yelled. "You said you'd take us somewhere!" "Yes", I said. "Here." They were pissed the whole way back. Then I bought them each an icecream and they loved me again. Hahaha.
After our dinner I wanted to return to the hotel and just stand under the shower to feel clean again because of the heat. I took the parasol for Xue Lin with me and wanted to give it to her the next day. I had a wonderful idea in my mind of how I could romantically present it to her. Then, suddenly, I saw her. "Shit", I thought, and quickly shoved it under my shirt. The entire way back she walked next to me and at one point asked me: "Why are you walking so strange? Are you awright?" "Ja", I said. "No really, no problems here."
