2130 words - and not counting, because I think I can afford to give myself the rest of the day off when it comes to the novel. I still can't really think of it as a novel though. It's a story, and so far I'm liking it (yes, even though I say so myself). I like most of the people in it, especially Jody. I think he's going to do something quite interesting. The man with the clarinet is another I could definitely see as a key person.
But most of all it's simply exhilarating to just write with abandon and not a fuckin clue where everything's going. There's no pressure to make it a GOOD story. I mean, this is my first attempt to actually write a novel EVER, let alone in a certain amount of time, so I know from the start I'll probably suck. And you know what? I can accept that. Because this is completely and entirely and ultimately for FUN. Nobody's trying to prove anything beyond the fact that they can write fifty thousand words in one month. I don't HAVE to do this. Nobody is going to hate me for delivering below perfection, not even me. I think that's the reason I can do this at all. It doesn't have to be perfect. "Let's write laughably awful yet lenghty prose together!" Magical words. :)
In other WORDS: Sjors and I are going to interfere in Wiktionary. Or rather the Dutch version: WikiWoordenboek. We find it untenable that this work of reference does not include words like 'prutser', 'onmenselijk' en 'kneus'. With Sjors' digital skills and both his and my verbal creativity, we hope to repair this omission.
