Cathy's Song

(by M. Isakovsky)

As the apples just begin to blossom,

The river's hidden in the rolling mist,

Cathie comes to the shores lonesome -

To the rocky shores in the East.

There she comes and begins her singing

Of the great eagle from the wild

Of the one whom she loves so dearly

Of the one whose letters she will mind.

Fly you song of the loving maiden

Fly as flies the ever-burning sun

To the borders, and without fading

Tell the soldier Cathy sends her love.

Let him think of his simple darling

Let him hear how she sings it forth

Let him keep our Mother-land unharmed

And let Cathy keep the word of love.

As the apples just begin to blossom,
The river's hidden in the rolling mist,
Cathie comes to the shores lonesome -
To the rocky shores in the East.
