I found out yesterday that my father has visited this place before ( Read more... )

The tough Chinese girl sits off to one side, watching.

Not bad. What style?

[He stops for a moment, mid-movement, his stance wavering slightly from the sudden arrest of momentum.]

Dai-hyakkyokuken.

[His words are short, but his tone is not enough to be offensive. After responding, he continues. Spheres have begun generating in a halo about him. He has three spheres so far. A fourth appears as he continues.]

Can't say I've heard of it...

She watches as the spheres begin to form.

Think I see why, too. Magic martial arts. That's a new one on me.

[Finding his water, negi sits down among his outer robes to rest for a moment.]

That last was a combination of an attacking magic I know, that I use in conjunction with my punch to greatly increase the force I can achieve. Let me demonstrate.

[He's a bit out of it, so he closes his eyes and begins incanting.]

(normally he incants quietly or not at all, but this one he's doing out loud.)
Ras Tel Ma Scir Magister...
O, Viginti novem lux lucis, recolligo ut mei manus, Sagitta Magica, Serial Lucis! Viginti novem telum of lux lucis!
(O, Twenty-nine lights, gather to mine hand, Archery Magic: Series of light! Twenty nine Arrows of light!)[Having braced his arm at the bicep, and concentrated, the spheres appear much more easily now. 29 pale spheres appear, burning brightly as he finishes the incantation. Upon calling the end of the incantation, the 29 spheres streak out into the sky as bolts of magical energy, disappearing into the sky after only a moment. If there's any kind of ceiling above us, they can be seen detonating against it ( ... )

Hmm. All right, but would you say you're pretty skilled even without all the magic stuff?

Um...I couldn't say really. I am...or was...still learning from Master Ku-fei-san.

[He's obviously not comfortable putting his own classification forwards.]

Look, I'm askin' for a reason. Lemme give you a quick history lesson on this place: Not too long ago, the head bastards decided to teach us all a lesson on account of this Revya bitch by making sure nobody had any sort of unnatural powers. I weren't hit too hard by it on account that most of my power is my skill. The old bastard weren't too big on teachin' us flashy stuff. But a lot of people -- POWERFUL people -- you might as well have tossed them into a cage of tigers with nothin' but a flower to fend 'em off for how useful they were in that state.

So what I'm sayin' is, yer magic's cool and stuff, but you gotta make sure to practice without the heavy shit to make sure you ain't gonna get screwed over when the shit hits the fan. I'd offer t' help yer trainin', but I don't have any guarantee our styles wouldn't clash or somethin'.

Just tellin' you, one martial artist to another.

I...

[He's looking unsure, but then a moment later, his expression hardens.]

I-in that case, I have the skills. But, in actual combat I use a magic called "Cantus Bellax" It's latin and means "Battle Hymn". Basically it just improves my physical condition my many times. Although I train to condition myself, Without Cantus Bellax, I am still only an above-average child.

[The work he has done shows, he is easily much more toned and defined than an ordinary 11yr old would be, but he is probably only slightly stronger than your average untrained full grown man.]

I see.

Like I said, I'd offer to help out, but I got my own style. But I can spar with you sometime if that'd mean anything. Wouldn't mind meetin' that master of yours, though -- not that I can see it happening, but you know, wishes, horses, 'n shit like that.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

[He nods his head at you in solemn respect.]

Look me up sometime then. The old man always helped those that wanted to help themselves. Got a tradition to keep up on my end.
