Glad things are good with you. See you @ Kinetik. I'll be making the trip once again.

I've also been slowly setting aside money for a possible trip to Germany. Would really like to finally make it to a maschinenfest if the line-up is good this year.

Cheers to hibernating, and eventually getting out of dodge!

It sounds like a very cheap fix if it's just the gauges and shit. $2000??? No way. I would just buy the parts and try to find someone you know that knows how to work on cars to fix it, unless of course you're ready to get a new car anyway.

Wanting to go to Kinetik too, if I am working enough by then, I plan on getting up there. Quite an amazing line up they have this year!

Nice try! :P

When I bought my VW years ago I was actually working at Ford. Had considered getting the Focus in the first model year it was released in the US. Glad I didn't because the Focus set a record with 8 recalls!!!

Not a fan of the Focus' styling either... looks like a Camry from a few years ago :P

regardless, Glad it suits your needs however and that you enjoy yours.

Be well

Re: Scion (Toyota) m_saint January 27 2010, 02:01:16 UTC
Yup, I realize Scion is a sub division of Toyota. Nowhere on that list are any specific Scions however.

I'm also not going to sit here and argue with you that I'm better off buying an import versus a dometic car. The argument can lean either way. I realize some domestics are class leaders in gas mileage, safety, environmment, etc... But there's several foreign manufacturers who build excellent quality AND stylish cars. I'm just not interested in any American cars in my price range due to things such as styling. Malibu - sorry, not interested, Saturn - oh wait they're gone, Pontiac - the G8 was cool but oh yeah they're gone too...

No where does it say as an American, I'm required to buy an American car. The american auto worker and the american auto companies brought their collapse upon themselves. I'm sure they'd love my business, but I'm not obligated to help their situation. My choice as a consumer...
