So I'm back in Oberlin. Classes are up and running and whatnot. A lot has happened in my life in the past week or so, so I figured it was about time that I tell y'all about it.

First of all the Oberlin College Choir went to Chicago for three days. It was incredible. I really really enjoyed it. We sang at nine in the morning on the second day we were there and had the rest of the day off to entertain ourselves. I hung out with some people that I don't get a chance to hang out with often, which is always nice. We ate great food on Oberlin's budget. We each got $70 for six meals, which was more than enough. It was really pleasant. Oh, and I forgot to mention that we sang really well too. We did almost all the same music from our big concert last semester, so we knew our program really well. We were singing for the opening of the American Choral Directors Association convention and we recieved a warm welcome and recieved a lot of kind words from people throughout our time in Chicago. It was great.

Secondly, I have a job working for the conservatory admissions office. I'm leading conservatory tours and doing office work (I'm mostly doing it for the tours though). I don't have a schedule yet but I can't wait to get started.

Thirdly, I just recieved notice earlier today that I have a radio show this semester. I applied a few days ago and am incredibly pleased with my time slot. My show runs from 4-5 on Sunday afternoons. I'm not sure whether we stream live over the internet, but if we do I encourage all of you to take a listen on occassion if it suits your fancy. The premise of my show is to play classical music after educating the masses about it. I'm going to do research on the selections for each of my shows and give the highlights over the air, hopefully energizing the music that is so often described as being bland, boring, or old. My first show's theme brings us to my final life happening:

Professor James Caldwel, the oboe faculty member at Oberlin, passed away recently. I'm planning on dedicating my first show to him and his amazing recordings on both modern and baroque oboe. I plan on talking about his life and all of the genius that accompanied it. He was truely an amazing personality that I, for sure, can't fathom. He was a bright light in many peoples lives and deserves respect and admiration from us all. I hope to inspire both of those things by having a show in honor of his greatness.

That's all for now. I'll be back in a while to let y'all know more.
