The cars were all long, sleek and black as they sped through the traffic in a determined pattern, working in concert and blocking out any cars that might try and squeeze between. It was necessary that they arrive at the same time. Surround the building. Block off any chance of escape.

She was the first one out, barely waiting for the driver to open her door. Her fingers curled around the handle of her gun, testing its familiar weight. It was a false comfort, if she were truthful with herself, which she wasn't often. She wouldn't use the gun on him. He was too valuable. He'd saved her too many times.

He knew it. She knew it.

But it was part of the game, and it gave her the feeling of being in control, which was something she hadn't felt in years.

She nodded briskly at the sea of men in suits surrounding her and led the way into the building.
