-I’m supposed to hear sometime this week whether or not I get the promotion, and while I’m nervous, I’m not as big a wreck as I thought I would be. Maybe it’s because I applied for a whole bunch of other county positions that are very similar to what I’m doing now, and I feel like I have a bit of a safety net. Whatever it is, they said that they would let everyone know by the middle of the week, so hopefully by Wednesday I’ll know if I get to stay where I am, or if I get shuffled back to Booking until I can find something new.
-I’m finally getting some of my sewing mojo back. I haven’t really felt the drive to make anything this year, and it was a struggle just to cobble together the blue behemoth I wore to the Victorian Soiree in January, which I wasn’t even happy with when it was done. I need to get started on my wedding clothes, and since it’s going to be an early Natural Form dress, I need to make a whole new set of undies first. I’m planning to go to Dallas on Saturday and pick up some silk for the corset and some batiste for a new chemise, but that all depends on what happens with work. (If they put me back in Booking, then I’ll probably have to work on Saturday, which will be massively inconvenient.)
-We finally got the catalytic converter and the O2 sensor fixed on the car, and now we have a big fat oil leak. Hooray. Oh, and we also need a new mass airflow sensor. We have now officially spent more on repairs to the car than we actually spent on the car.
-On a happier note, I found no less than six (six!) dance groups in Portland, Maine for English Country Dance, Contra Dancing, or Irish Ceili dancing. I’m super excited, because for the longest time there has only been one in DFW (we just recently got a second group). DFW is one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the country, and tiny little Portland, literally a 100th of the size, has a half-dozen groups! One of them even had a pic up of the entire group in Regency garb, so bonus historical costuming points! I’m so excited!
-Finally managed to get my hands on some new gym shoes. I did, however, forget that this past weekend was tax-free weekend, so the store was a total bloody madhouse. At least I got a good deal on the shoes, and now I can finally get my butt back to the gym. I’ve got mumbelty number of pounds to lose by May of next year, so I need to get on it!
