Well, we didn't get the house. It turns out that even though the listing agent told us that we were the first and only offer, that they had, in fact, several offers on the place. We were basically dismissed, and they've countered the other person's offer, so it sounds like they're trying to squeeze as much out of the place as they can.
My realtor was totally stunned with the seller's agent's bad behavior in not telling us about the other offers. He ended our phone call with "you really have had an amazing streak of realtors acting horribly." So, there's that.
I'm pretty heartbroken about losing out on the house, it really had everything we wanted. The hunt continues, I guess.
Oh, and if one more person says "It just wasn't meant to be!" I'm going to throw myself off the roof.
