Guys.
GUYS.
I don't know if I'm late to the party or something, but do you know about this thing?!
It's a fashion periodical that seems to have run for many decades. The earliest one I've see was from the 1830s, and the latest was from 1881. There are only a few online, and the scans can be truly horrible, but there are men's patterns out the wazzoo in these things! There are lady's patterns, too, just not as many. The commentary talks about the small changes from the season before, and how you can alter your existing clothes to fit the new trends, and it's just great. I found a formal evening suit pattern in there from 1874. I'm not even going to attempt it with all the other stuff I have to make for the Soiree, but it's there! Ready to use whenever I get the time!
I also found this fabulous thing, which was a new and exciting thing in December of 1874.
I think I neeeeed to make it for the Soiree. And the pattern is in that volume of the gazette! I don't have to guess at what's going on!
