Didn't get anything done on the waistcoat or the dress yesterday. I had everything with me, but I got totally sidetracked planning stuff for the Paris trip next year. I found a nice little flat right across from the palace gates, which I'm planning to book with my next paycheck. Then it will really be real! I'll have the first part BOOKED.

We'll have three days in Versailles, one for jetlag recovery and exploring the town, one for touring Versailles and the for the Ball, and another for Ball recovery and repacking, and then four in Paris itself. I found a studio flat for rent on AirB&B, right down the street from the Louvre. I'm still planning the itinerary for Paris, but so far I know I want to hit the Louvre and the Catacombs. I'd love to do Monet's garden, but it's a bit out of the way. There's plenty to see within walking distance of our flat. I sort of hate leaving things up to chance, especially with such a short time frame to do everything in. I need schedules and pre-purchased tickets! M is totally one of those "let's just walk around town and eat a bunch of stuff" travelers, while I'm the "We have a tour at 10, followed by lunch at X, then a tour at 2, with tea at X afterward..." sort of traveler.

The Germany leg of the trip is a little more up in the air right now. I had originally planned for us to head to Ludwigslust and stay there, but I found an absolutely beautiful bed & breakfast in Emmendorf, which is just up the road from where my grandparents used to live in the north.

Soooo preeeetty. I was planning for us to rent a car up there anyway, so it doesn't really matter where we stay. I'm also drawn to the Strampenhof in Bad Bavensen since it's right in the middle of town and the grounds are really pretty. But, there's a huge price difference between it and the place in Emmendorf, and my wallet usually has final say.

There's a bullet train to the south that will take us to Kirchheim unter Teck, where my family lives, and we'll spend the last four days of our trip there. I want to hit Lichtenstein castle, Ludwigsburg palace, and the reconstructed Roman villa/open air museum since late antiquity is M's chosen field. I also want to take a day trip into Tubingen to show him where we would have been living if I'd done grad school there. Most of those trips will take the entire day, but we can definitely stop at places to and from each of those destinations, so more planning is in order.

I want to squeeze in at least two visits every day, which I think is doable without getting overwhelmed. Maybe a couple of days we can squeeze in three or four stops if we stay in the same town, but I don't want to come back from vacation exhausted. XP

In totally unrelated news, the trim for the gown finally arrived after being detoured a dozen times over. I'm trying to decide which one to use now. I have a narrow blue trim, and a peach colored lace I could dye, but I also realized that I'm running low on time now, and I'm wary of taking time to dye something that might not turn out. ~bites nails~ Even though everyone that commented on it overwhelmingly liked the peach trim better, I think I'll do the blue. Ugh. I hate that I'm working down to the wire on this again.

Thankfully, I have the house to myself this weekend, so I'm going to really run hard at getting the dress finished so I can work on M's suit over the rest of the week. It's definitely crunch time now, and I can't afford to lose another minute.
