Squeekums' First Winter

Oct 14, 2009 00:12

I'm a little worried about Squeekums. This is his first winter and he doesn't have any cage mates to keep him warm. He's already been stuffing his "castle" with bedding at night (its been unusually cold here).
His current set up is in an 10 gallon aquarium tank that has two sides covered with cardboard (shield his tank from the sun in the summer). I've been using Carefresh bedding and his "castle" is part of a Yankee candle jar holder for shipping (recycled paper pulp molded for the jar to protect them during shipment). He also has an assortment of paper tubes, a wheel, water bottle and food bowl of course.
We plan on giving him extra bedding, but I'm not sure what else to do for him. We keep the heat turned down alot, because its so expensive. I have him on our kitchen table (eat in kitchen, he's far enough away from the action), but I was thinking of moving him to the living room (probably going to be warmer unless we're cooking/baking of course).
Anything else we can do for him?

keeping mice cool/warm
