The Dark Masquerade

What a lovely evening! People weren't as gorgeously dressed as last year IIRC, but still some very fancy stuff was worn. My green man woman outfit was quite a success, and I got photographed by not one, but two complete strangers. (Yay!) _illumina_'s Morrigan outfit met with approval - especially the crow staff! I met _illumina_'s friends gothicmissy and roguesolo, and two new acquaintances, volantra and brindy, who had decided to come all the way from Glasgow to spend their one year anniversary at the ball. I didn't dance as much as I had hoped to, as sadly the music declined a bit in the later part of the evening, being less classical goth and more noisey modern stuff. The mask (moulded leather mask, tied on my glasses) hurt a little bit on my nose after a few hours, but not more than I could live with it. Pictures will follow as soon as I see some of them uploaded.

And in the taxi on the way back, I saw a barn owl sitting on a fence at the Marston Road. The first proper wild life I've seen in Oxford!

_illumina_ left mid-morning on Saturday, so instead of going for brunch with her at Edamame, I dragged my housemates there instead. Her loss, their gain. At the library, I managed to get hold of lindorm's recommendation Devices and desires. I've only got a few chapters into it, but it seems like a highly enjoyable book.
