yesterday i went out with a friend i haven't seen for awhile. i've known her for several years and it's cool cuz now she's pregnant. (seems to be a trend amongst my married friends lately) we went to get gelatto (mmmmm...) and i went to powell's books for the first time. it is really bigger than i imagined. REI and whole foods. well, somewhere in there my car decided it didn't want to start. ugh. now i've had this problem a few times before. in fact, car problems, i believe are that part of life that happens when we just don't have the money to fix them.
so, we sat in the parking garage for a bit. myself, rather embarrassed for the issue and my friend well, getting nauseous from probably the heat and smells in the parking garage (or maybe nothing--who knows she's pregnant) and it was that moment when i surfed through my list of contacts in my cell phones that i realized i might be completely screwed. not because i don't have friends, but because at 3pm on a monday, my friends are at work. but then i'm still limited on which friends know anything about cars. so my mind scanned all the guys i knew well, and well, for the most part, they have told me they know nothing of cars. next logical choice to call, the church. bingo! the intern knows cars. great! so he gets sent over to help me. after spending 10 minutes to find us in the parking garage, he says okay, turn the switch lets see what's wrong... the car turns on without a hitch. i will be forever confused as to the actions of my car yesterday.
