yesterday was such a nice break from my typical 9 hour work day. i cut out mid day and went to uncle paul's fruit stand over on hawthorne. i love that place. they get in tons of local farmers produce, almost like the farmers market, but cheaper. then i bought some fish. the fish just sounded so yummy that i went home and had fish for lunch. while there, i was working through my reading the bible in 90 days business. i've never taken a straight through reading so seriously. i think it's because there's a small challenge for me, 'read it in 90 days.' well, that most likely isn't going to happen since i just got into 1 chronicles yesterday and i should be in the psalms. i've taken tons of classes on the OT, and it's nice to actually read through the books and know the correlation and the background and to be able to see things i may not have seen on my own. it's very exciting. i wish i would have been more challenged like this in the past.

i'm also contemplating discipleship. the thoughts arose yesterday while having a discussion with a girl. (i will not mention how i know her) but we were discussing marriage and her views on the government's role versus the church's. she wants to marry in the church and have the marriage be sanctified by God, but doesn't want anything to do with the politics of it because she doesn't like the fact that they are trying to regulate marriage to some people. it's an interesting argument to say the least and i'm rather fascinated by the thought process.

this morning i walked into the kitchen and a whole area of the floor was swarming with ants. it really grossed me out. AND since i woke up late, there just wasn't much i could do about it. it seems ants are just a part of life--- i just don't understand why they've come up so late in the summer.
