What, no council? Aww, I wanted to see their reaction on Faith thecyborg. Also, wasn't Wesley planning on checking on them (Buffy and Faith) when he left? What was going on with Angel crew anyway? Are there any ripples reaching LA from Sunnidale? Next topic: AI мы SI. It is good that you adressed the issue of the morality here. But I should point out that Xander really should build an AI. Why? Well, because he a) Somewhat of a spark b) realizes that an AI would be great asset and will further the advancement of science (because no matter how smart Xander is, an AI based on his neural net and equipped with perpetualy expanding FTL transmitting self-modifying/evolving Multi-dimensional processor net packed inside a tesseract would eventualy become smarter [some ten seconds after achieving consciousness and then singularity]). An AI which, now that I think of it, would be something like a Mind (yes, the Culture one). Third point in my ranty review of this chapter: It has great interaction, but I can't help but feel that it is forced. Though I can understand it, because, unless I have missed my mark, you are starting to radically diverge from canon here, because there is nothing left in canon to defeat. Good for you, I am very interested in what will happen next and where you will take this story. Also, about faith's new gun: would it work on the First? Or on the hellmouth itself? Because, if I have understood correctly is is a reality strengthening gun used to destroy trans-dimensional intrusions. P.S. Again sorry for the anonimous review.
The council basically had their "get on board or shut up" moment back in S3. Giles is pretty much Buffy's Watcher these days, and whatever's going on in L.A. is as removed from Sunnydale as it ever was. I guess the only big difference is Wesley never got tortured by Faith, so he's probably not quite as dark as he would have otherwise been.
A lot of this installment and the last one is me just getting through the season. I knew I wanted Glory to be dealt with fairly easily, and without Faith there aren't too many big issues in this season. Right now I'm looking forward to the next idea and hope it instills some new drama into the story.
Because honestly, except for a few things I want to address, I would have probably ended the story once Glory was defeated, because the next two big bads are pretty much not going to be an issue for the gang -- at least, not as they stand now. There may be new threats, but that depends on how creative I feel like getting and what the next idea is.
On Faith's particle beam cannon: it works only against Glory, as it was designed specifically to interact with her. On anything else it would probably tickle a little.
On AI/SIs: Buffybot's not even activated yet! Let's wait and see before we jump to any conclusions about the nature of computer intelligences.
