In case you forgot why I continue to say the Huffington Post is a rag:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jenny-mccarthy/whos-afraid-of-the-truth_b_490918.html You know what's sad? When I saw that headline pop up on Google News, I actually had a brief moment of hope (the good kind, not the Final Fantasy kind) where I thought that maybe, just maybe, the Huffington Post was going to actually have an article about the absolutely asinine claims of autism-vaccine links and why the recent court decision is backed up by overwhelming scientific evidence disproving any such link.
I guess I'm just an optimist at heart.
Cold hard reality sank in the moment I saw Jenny McCarthy's hateful name up there at the top though. Another classic HuffPo pile of absolute bullshit. Fantastic.
You'd think I wouldn't be surprised to see Andrew Wakefield (the now thoroughly debunked and ethically compromised author of the original deceptive study to link autism to vaccines) referenced by folks like Jenny McCarthy. I mean, the guy's study has been absolutely torn to shreds, the journal where it was published has denounced its findings, the other authors have pulled their names from it, his findings were faulty, his methods were deceptive, and his motives were highly suspect. That original study is simply wrong, and yet instead of being embarrassed or ceasing to refer to it, Jenny McCarthy just assumes that there's a massive global conspiracy to silence "Dr. Wakefield."
Well there is a global effort to silence him, but that's only because he's a lying prick who is directly responsible for the death of many, many children. Fuck Andrew Wakefield, Fuck Jenny McCarthy, and most of all: Fuck the Huffington Post.
