I am curious to know if there are other non-Christians here with an attraction to the Magdalene, and if so, whether or not they include her in some respect in their spiritual practice.

I'm not exactly Christian, nor fully Pagan yet. I have left the church however to be able to study religion from a more objective point of view. Though a Female Devine and the Power of Nature is for me a more attracting, more "realistic" kind of belive than what the bible uses to tell.

I have done a lot of research about Mary Magdalene, Jesus and the "original" (gnostic) writings when Christianity first emerged from the Jewish traditions.
I consider Mary Magdalene as the strongest equivalent to a female devine. Other than Mary Mother of Jesus she is for me what would have been a much stronger link to early pagan belives and Christianity. I do believe she was married to Jesus (or, at least, they had a bond that came close to marriage as we know it today) and probably had children. These thesis put the Christian believes a lot more into everyday's reality.

However, I do not think that Jesus was "the One God"'s son. Just like there is no "One Daughter of the Goddess". Jesus and Mary were strong leaders, with a beautiful influence and great teachings for the war suffering people back then. They gave them hope and a strong believe. What the Catholic Church made of this is another story, but the the reason I left Christianity.

That is why I honour Jesus and Mary. But only as historical figures and their achievements. Mary was a strong, beautiful, important woman in her days.
