Segolene Royal does not know the whole truth
French Energy Minister Segolene Royal said on Tuesday she is investigating legal means to ban the import of shale gas from the United States because France has banned shale gas exploration using hydraulic fracking for environmental reasons.
I am afraid, Ms Royal is unaware of the whole truth. Russia's Gazprom is also using hydraulic fracking at its super-giant Yamburg gas field and smaller reservoirs.
Moreover, Rosneft, Gazprom Neft and other companies in Russia use fracking to produce oil.
For the sake of consistency, French Energy Minister should also consider banning the imports of Russian oil and natural gas.
