As I leave here today, apartment 108
I'll always keep you in my heart.
We have all had a previous relationship in which we will always treasure. The old ones can never compare to the new ones, but I'm sure there was one relationship that you treasured more than anything. I am sure you know the reasons why they ment so much to you. It could have been your first relationship, the first person you told you love. It could have been after your first time, giving your virginity to that person, giving them everything. It didn't even have to be something that serious, it could have been the small things. The way that their eyes flashed at you when you held gaze, the way their skin felt underneath your fingertips as you held them close to you, or it could have been the way their lips always found yours. Maybe it could have been the emotions that the arose in you, the way they made you feel.
Anderson is cold tonight,
The leaves are scattered on the ground.
You felt like your life was over when you broke apart. You felt as if you were no longer whole without them by your side. You opened up to them, told them things you never thought you would tell anybody. You fell in love with them, giving your heart to them when you should have kept it to yourself, so you wouldn't risk getting hurt. You laid your emotions on the line, and you think it was the wrong thing to do. You put your life into this relationship, risking things to be with this person. You passed on spending time going out with friends to stay home, and just to talk to them. You waited up till they would walk through your bedroom door, and crawl into bed with you. You would wait till they were asleep to kiss their neck and whisper those three words to them.
I miss the seasons,
And the comfort of your smile.
I went through a relationship, one that lasted just over two years. Some of you are married, some of you are dating, some of you are just friends.. and some of you know how hard a relationship is to maintain. I loved this person, and from the first time I met him, I thought he was perfect. He swept me off of my feet, showering me with little presents here and there. Took my by the hand, and showed me love. I though it was perfect, as most people do. Love, who would have ever thought that I would be in love? I fell so hard, nearly a month into our relationship, he move in with me. Things were rough, me being an actress and him being a photographer.. I was never around, neither was he. But when we were together, it was beautiful.
Sometimes this all feels like a dream.
I'm waiting for someone to just wake me up,
From this life.
Everything must come to a end though.. this was one of the things that didn't end soon enough. When you love someone so much, you are too blind to see when they are hurting you. I ignored the frequent females calling the apartment, asking for him. I ignored the fact that he didn't come home untill four in the morning, and leave again around six. I was in love, so it didn't matter when he lost his control and slapped me across the face when he told me I was getting fresh with him.
I remember how our family split apart.
I don't think I ever told you,
But I know you always did your best.
And the hard times,
They only made us stronger.
There were so many nights that I would end up running back home, climbing up the tree and into Jake's bedroom. My brother held me, telling me that everything would be ok. I know that I scared him when I would look at him, blood running from my lip, or a small bruises in the shapes of fingertips were lining up along my cheekbone. He made me realize that I was tearing our family apart with what I wanted, and what I wanted was wrong. I couldn't look my parents in the eyes anymore. They knew what was going on, yet they left it up to me to realize it, to stop it. Jake was there from day one, and he tried to to warn me what I was getting into. He looked at me one night, he was still young and vulnerable, and I watch as a tear ran down his cheek. He was hurt, angry that I was doing this to myself. That woke me up.
As I sit here all alone,
I wonder how I'm suppose to carry on when you're gone.
I'll never be the same without you,
I love you more then you will ever know.
So maybe now you finally know.
Sometimes we're helpless and alone,
But you can let it keep you weighted down.
You must go on.
Even though the breakup was "unexpected" to him, he took it fairly well. He went to grab me, and I think that was the first time I ever stood up for myself, and spoke what I was thinking. He left the next morning, with me crying on the couch. I knew what I did was right, but that didn't make it any less painful. I was single for a long time, going out on occasional dates, but coming off cold and bitchy. Do you blame me? I never thought I would fall in love again, I thought love was a one time thing.
The hardest part isn't finding who we need to be
it's being content with who you are
I opened up to someone awhile back who made me see who I really was. The relationship was fleeting, but ment alot to me. It was something I will never forget, because he became a part of me that I will always love and treasure. There was a few more, and each one opened up my heart again and again. I finally saw what I was missing out on, that life without love is hard and cruel. Not only did I meet more people, I allowed them into my life. Something I would have never done shortly after the heartache I had experienced. So thank you, you know who you are.
Relationships are never the same, each one is different. The one I am in now, I have never felt more comfortable. And maybe this one will last, maybe it won't. But all I know is, I don't regret anything that's happened in the past, and I won't regret anything in the future. The saying, "Anything is possible", is true for me, only because I have expriences so many things I could never thought could be possible.
Do you ever feel like crying?
Do you ever feel like giving up?
I raise my hands up towards the sky,
I say this prayer for you tonight,
Because nothing is impossible.
