When TOF was in high school, he (along with his fellow scholars) was assigned to write a term paper on a selected English writer. I was rather expecting "No worst, there is none" from the description. But it's a recurrent theme in his poetry, now that you mention it.

It's rather curious that Hopkins was one of his era's masters of the sonnet, which is an Italian and French import.

Hopkins was one of the poets I was introduced to by Untermeyer's anthologies, and one of the memorable ones.
