Captain America was quite good. It remained stalwartly period while mixing in the comic book aspects that make Cap over the top without making it seem completely ridiculous. Hugo Weaving was an excellent choice for Red Skull. And the make-up for him was astounding. There were a lot of wonderful performances in this film and none of the ensemble felt weak. I enjoyed the inclusion of Howard Stark.
If anything the film suffered from an odd choice in camera effect during action sequences, and from being perhaps slightly too brief. But it played almost like a great mix of the Rocketeer and Indiana Jones mixed with a go get em American Propaganda piece.
There was also appropriate tie ins to Thor and other Avengers. Fantastic little trailer after the credits. 'Some Assembly Required' made me chuckle since the call for the team was always 'Avengers Assemble'.
Overall, 5 stars from me. I enjoyed every minute.
