Well, I am back from camp perry. while i did not get a AR-15 lower i did get some parts and magazines.. I also got a lot of paw time with some handguns namely springfields XD and M1911's I like the feel of both... I am looking at the .45 cal offerings. in the m1911 series i am looking at the GI model and for the XD the Tactical both have a MSRP of 600.00
I am also looking at several options on the AR.... CMMG is still the top dog pick Stag arms is next up on the totem pole, and LMT is a possibility as well...
I am overall recovered from Perry. I went to CMP and had fun looking around there... they had several nice Garands... CMP is looking at geting another batch in October.. prices range from 425-595 for rack, field and service grades.. they did have some M1D's less optics and mounts for 1500 and some nice national match models for 2300.00
for those who like the carbine..they will have more for sale roughly in sept.. prices will be 495 on up dependednt on manufacturer and condition
they had same federal m193 ball but they wanted 10.40 a box of 20!!!!
picked up four D&H mags which had been teflon coated for 11.00 a mag
did reaquire the Complete AR-15 Assembly manual by Clint Mcgee and Walter Kulek of Fulton Armory.. as a bonus my copy is signed by both authors and i picked it up on sale for 5.00 below normal cost :o)
did spend plenty of time partying with the marine armorers and getting loads of good information from them....
Dinignitaries were all over the place and I met several including Wyne Lapierre, John Siglar (NRA President) Phillip Shriver (director NRA firearms Museum) and Rob Leatham of Team Springfield the last three i got to spend quite a bit of time as they were in my section of Rodriguiz pits for the Innuagral M1A match... the winner was a young junior shooter who won among other things a nice M1A. Springfield will be doing the match every year and this year was offering 25,000. in prizes. they also priemeried their camp perry 100th anniverasary commentarive rifle no details yet on price but there are only going to be a few made (Less than 100) one of the things that impressed me about the NRA leadership was thier approachability.. alsothe day of the M1a Match it was constantly raining and yet here was the president and FAM director out shooting in it and pulling pits like everybody else... there was also a NRA camera crew present... I know I do not agree with everything the NRA does but i am happy to meet the leadership an spend some time with them...
anyhow enough for now
