Not as international as usual, but I've never been to Atlanta before, and it's a big US city, so it must have SOMEthing interesting, right? I've been to the airport, but it was really confusing and I didn't have a lot of time, so my first GA experience was not a pleasant one. But, I don't judge a city on its airport.
so, my friend Leah, who I was best friends with in high school, is getting married to some ninja guy and I'm so stoked on going. We haven't kept in very good touch over the years, but I would've been pretty choked if I hadn't been invited. Denise and David's wedding is on July 28 and Leah's is on the 4th of August, so I figure while I'm already on the coast, I should just catch a plane the day after and hang out in Atlanta for a while, which would be cool. Except that I have no one to stay with, and no way to get to the wedding, which means I have to hit up people I haven't spoken to in years and ask for a favour. Not thrilled about that. And I have to do it fast, so I can book a flight. I am so so so so SO bad at planning and organizing things. Like, honestly. I can be the biggest airhead. The way I plan travel usually means I end up doing many miles' worth of walking. So that part is not good. Lucky for Facebook, though, people are a lot easier to track down, which hopefully will work to my advantage in asking people for favours.
I haven't seen Leah since July 7th, 2001, the day after we graduated. Actually, I haven't really seen anyone since I graduated, except for Sarah once, at the Santiago airport when I left last year (that was a weird coincidence) and Jordan, who started going to Trinity my last year there (that was an even weirder coincidence). I guess they're the only ones, and it was only brief "hey, what are you doing here? Well, nice to see you" sort of things. Most people I knew are either way out east, or in Texas. The Texans in my school were the only ones who got made fun of as much as I did (for being Canadian). But at least there was like 12 of them; there was only one of me.
So anyway, yeah. Planning this thing. I don't know how I will figure this out. Would it be totally rude to ask Leah if I could crash at her place? Etiquette - also not my strong suit. I mean, if nothing else, I'll bring a blanket and some sticks along and pitch myself a tent on the side of the road somewhere, because I am for SURE going to be there, no matter what. Georgia is supposed to be a warm place, right? I'm okay with sleeping outside. Yeah, I can do this.
