Yeah. I'm kind of chatty right now.
Firstly, the little thing. Apparently, the account I used to host the background picture for my LJ format has been deleted. Annoying. Not sure if I'll bother with putting one somewhere else.
Second, I've been sicky. Not like "Ew, I feel bad." More like "Please just let me die." Not going to go into huge details, but I woke up several times Sunday night to worship the potty, then didn't eat anything until I was so weak that standing up made me dizzy. Got a little scared since I'm all alone here and standing up is kind of required to get to the kitchen. Guess I know what anorexia/bulimia feels like now. Still somewhat weak and floating between chill and feverish, and don't have much of an appetite yet, but I'm not dizzy or anything like that anymore. Didn't want to go to work today just to avoid passing this on to other people, but the only 2 others that know how to do my job are on vacation this week. We'll get back to how this illness could be bad later.
The holidays were OK, I guess. Not spectacular, but all and all pretty good. Rather subdued without a couple of my aunts around. One of them came down for a day but went back home before I got into town, because her daughter can't leave due to parole issues. The other has been in the hospital for the last couple of months. Combination of blood-pressure-induced blindness and a disease related to Rheumatoid Arthitis that attacks internal organs instead of cartilage. She's lost enough of her instestines that she won't be able to get nutrients from food anymore. Grandpa's also been laid up for a while, with illnesses acquired after knee replacement a few weeks ago. If it weren't for the three youngsters, it probably wouldn't have been a fun time.
After I returned to the apartment, this grandpa was taken to the hospital with a fever of 102. Then the next morning, they thought he had congestive heart failure, but have since decided it was "just" a combination of bronchitis, pneumonia, and something else I can't remember now.
Here's where the flu bug I have/had gets potentially bad. I probably caught this from someone else over the weekend. From what my mom told me tonight on the phone, my sister got it yesterday and Grandma threw up after leaving the hospital recently. So it was around our family during the Christmas celebrations, and rather contagious. On top of my elderly grandparents, one of whom is struggling after surgery, and my aunt who is in pretty bad shape and no nursing homes so far will take her (they say she's too much work), my brother has a weak immune system from medications he takes (I believe it's his arthritis medication). And this wasn't a mild bug. I catch illnesses quite frequently, but usually my immune system prevents it from grabbing hold. (I like to say my white blood cells are lazy and only get off their butts when they really feel it's necessary.) So I just have this weak bug that lingers for a few weeks but never really bothers me. This didn't do that. I was completely inactive yesterday, and still don't feel great today.
