Ow, ow, pain, pain!

Well, past several days my lower back has been acting up.  Starts to jab at me when I'm standing for too long, which makes me feel a bit like a lazy bum, being that I can't stand up for too long.  What's worse is it's not just my back, the area on down my right leg also starts to bother me sometimes.  The spine is weird that way, get a hurt in a particular spot and it travels all down your body like electricity coursing through a wire.

About a year and half ago, I got an MRI of my back done (which, neatly enough, I'm still making payments on that dang thing) and it turns out one of the discs in my spine is... well, messed up somehow.  Can't remember exactly what they said, but I think it's leaking or some such.  They said it'll get worse as I get older (fun, fun).  So, I don't know, guess I need to break out the ice bag again. One time a few years ago the pain from my back was so severe I just could NOT stand up for several days.  (Well, I could, but it hurt like hell.)  So, I laid down most of the time with an ice bag on my bag.  I'd say in those few days, I went through more ice than the Titanic.

Course, I get a lot of amateur health professors (ie family and sometimes total strangers) telling me if I'd just lose weight, my back problems wouldn't be so bad or, some insist, disappear entirely.  Now, I'm not stupid, I know all the excess poundage I'm toting around can't be helpful, but... I don't know.  How the hell does one "... just lose weight"?  It's not like losing weight is something you do and then, boom it's done, like taking out of the trash and whatnot.

I don't know, that's what's crazy about the body, it seems to fight every attempt you make at improving it.  I mean, you cut back on what you eat, trying to lose weight, and it "yells" at you, saying it's hungry.  You exercise and you're muscles feel and stiff and painful, so it's like, "Damn, not sure I want to do this."  It's like something you body just doesn't seem to know you're trying to help it.

Granted, maybe in those situations you're going about things the wrong way, I dunno.

Well, I'm gonna take a nap.
