You'd really think that after the frantic hassle with the Oscars last year, I'd finally try to be a sensible person this year and set myself a feasible pace. I didn't. As a result, there's only three days left, and I still got to watch nine movies, review more than half a dozen already-watched ones and write a pre-Oscar report. A freaking disaster

'Half Nelson', yeah. I definitely recommend it. If only for Ryan Gosling.
Not that there aren't any other good things about it, of course. There are. Plenty, in fact.

I have tons of movies to watch. Just need some quiet time to actually sit down and watch them.
Ryan Gosling has come a long way since 'Young Hercules'. I haven't seen him in much after that, but I do think he's talented.

'Young Hercules'? Seriously? That's downright hilarious.
THe only movie I saw him in before 'Half Nelson' was 'The Believer' (a very very good movie, btw) which, well, formed my perception of Ryan Gosling in a very specific way. Meaning as a dangerous, fierce, tragic and utterly fascinating young man. Until I see a blatant proof to the contrary, Gosling will forever be totally hardcore for me. But I hope I don't. Gosling pulls off excellent hardcore.

I've heard about 'The Believer', that's the one where he's a nazi who discovers he's a Jew?

I've only seen him in 'Remember the Titans', where he had a small role, and 'United States of Leland', which I actually really liked.

Actually he knew he was a Jew to begin with, but you get the gist.
I'm planning to see 'The United States of Leland' somewhere in the future, preferably near future. I heard many good things about it.

You do that. It was even better than 'Half Nelson' and 'Half Nelson' was damn good to begin with, so that puts 'THe Believer' pretty high indeed.

I hope I get a chance to see it soon. I haven't been able to find a good torrent so far, but I'm surely going to keep looking.
