That was a really fun trip. We only placed third :( Ohwell, our campaign was badass. There were some things that we got jipped on though. Like our presentation was dead on, a lot of schools thought it was smooth as silk. The other schools had some quirky things to it, but ours was straight up professional. The other half, the book, had scored the highest out of all the schools. The only thing with that was that there was a rule that said we couldn't change the Coke tagline, which was "The Coke Side of Life." So we didn't. Apparently they DID want us to change it and go against that rule. WTF.
The judging was close, being that between 3rd and first was 1.2 points out out of 100. The number one team from Group A is going to finals, which was a business school out of Illinois (they were good, but, it had some things we didn't agree with), and the 2nd place is going into a Wild Card. Here's the kicker, in the second group, Group B,the top score of theirs was a whole 5 points off of ours, which placed third, and they are automatically going to nationals. Boo.
The 2nd nite was a blast too. There was a big party room in the presentation team's suite, where we all got in trouble for noise. Warning 1. He turns down the hall, comes back, bam. Warning 2. 2 warnings in 10 seconds. The 3rd they get evicted. So, off we go to the designated room. Wow, soooo empty and boring. Eventually though, all the schools started getting in trouble and making their way down there. Things were fun, then the security guy came back and started carding. the underage kids said they left theirs upstairs and never came back, me, i dropped my bag, picked up a water, walked across the room and sat down. All good. The nite progressed, met a lot of new people, and had a lot of fun. I guess some girls in another school got so trashed they jumped in a bowl fountain they had in the lobby and broke it..dumb bitches.
Oh oh oh, almost forgot. We went to TGI Fridays for dinner the first nite, and I went to the bar to get change. An older black woman turns around, acts surprised, and was scared that I was the VT killer. WTF right? She continues to ask me questions, getting everyone around here into it, asking if I look like the guy on tv. She even runs her hands thru my hair saying I need to get a haircut because I look too much like him (he was actually bald or had short hair picture pending). I said he was dead, and she asked if I had heard of reincarnation. She also lifted my shirt, saw I didn't have a tattoo and gave a sigh of relief cuz he apparently did have one...Normally i'm cool with crap like that, when it's innocent and with friends, but geez. Sooo pissed me off that nite. Yeh racial profiling.
Ohwell, we'll get it back next year! History of 3 in a row, and 6 in a row placing in the top 5, we got this. Overall the entire trip was a lot of fun and I learned a hella lot. Our client for next year is AOL...um, yeh..good luck w/ that. Eh, we'll do just fine, we're BSU AAF. Woot. Can't wait ^^
PS: Ahh, just cracked me open a nice, refreshing..Pepsi
