Sheila stuck her head tentatively into the kitchen. "Dick?" she asked, looking around for the man who had stolen her manufactured heart. She hadn't seen him in a while and was getting worried about him. Unable to find anyone, she started humming and singing as she wondered through the base ( Read more... )

"If this is Caboose's doing, I'm gonna kill him," Simmons muttered, wrestling with a spanner in the shower block, fixing up the far shower like Cap'd mentioned. Sometimes, he enjoyed the work. Sometimes, he didn't. This was one of those days. Too much time in the humid air didn't feel like it was doing him any good.
Sighing, he figured it would do the job. He grabbed his tools and headed out, pausing as he heard a voice echoing in the distance.
She's...
At last. Something and someone to lift his spirits. He headed through the corridors, following her voice.

"Ooh! Sigh! Give him your attention. Do I really have to mention he's the one..." Sheila moved slowly down the corridors toward where she thought she remember Dick's room to be, but then, she could be wrong. No one seemed to be around, and she took the time to glance into each of the rooms she passed.

'It appears as though someone was sick in here, and that bed's been slept in lately...'

Getting louder now, he thought, catching another snatch of music. He turned a corner, looking around - was that her? He wasn't just imagining...
"Hey!" he yelled.

She jumped and turned, her systems pumping the robotic equivalent of adrenaline into her. Eyes widened as she recognized the figure at the other end of the hall. "Dick!" Abandoning any sense of decorum, she ran towards him.

He laughed, opening his arms to catch her as she ran. "Where have you been?" he asked, the smile cracking his face and his voice reflecting it. "Damn. Missed you..."

She immediately wrapped her arms around his torso and squeezed. "Been...out...there," she replied, gesturing vaguely behind her as she buried her face in his chest and breathed in the scent of him. "Missed you so much."

"Absolutely..." he murmured, wrapping his own arms around her in return. "It just hasn't been right without you here," he said softly, not having the words to say just what he was feeling.

She inhaled deeply, knowing that it wasn't really necessary, but it was worth it anyway. "Hasn't been right now being here," she whispered, closing her eyes in content.

"Why did you go off, anyway?" he asked, threading a few strands of her hair between his fingers affectionately.

She shrugged uncertainly. "I believe I just wandered off..." Frowning, she pulled back slightly and opened her eyes, gaze dropping to the floor.

He chuckled softly, releasing his grip. "Yeah, I can't really blame you, to be honest." Not like I've been staying put all that much myself either, he thought.

She turned her gaze back towards him, cocking her head curiously. "There was blame to be assigned?" she asked, her brows furrowing slightly.

"No, no! Figure of speech, that's all," he said, trying to explain quickly. "If there was any, and there isn't, I meant..."

"Oh," she said quietly. She was silent for a few moments.

"I feel as though my knowledge of colloquialisms is incomplete." She felt...confused, and a bit out of sorts, even though she had found him again.

"That's okay. They probably never programmed them in when they were creating you," he said, putting a hand on her shoulder sympathetically. "You kind of need to be around people to pick them up. Don't worry about it."

She turned her head away, disgruntled despite his comforting presence. "I...I would have thought...for as long as I have spent around humans..." Sheila made an indistinct noise of frustration.

"It just...bothers me."
