Jan: the vet called; I scheduled blood work for next Tuesday for him; he's to get unlimited water and the vet started him on prednizone which is the chemo-therapy. The vet thinks the likelihood of a lymphoma are fairly indicative. Prednizone therapy at higher doses would run around 30-40 per month
Monica: I thought prednizone was a steroid. Milo always got it to help with his immunities/anti itching.
Jan: He said it could be in a kidney. If it is, one kidney could be removed, but if its in both, syonara. prednizone is a steroid but used to shrink lymphomas
Monica: ah
Jan: he started him on it because he thought the ultrasound was not an option; so his best guess as to what's going on with him is a lymphoma. He said continuing with the prednizone, provided the calcium level comes down, would probably give him several months. And he is to have unlimited water to help flush the calcium that the two drugs are helping to get rid of
Monica: did you ask the questions?
Jan: I couldn't find the note; I asked every question I could think of, including what if ultrasound didn't find anything? What could cause the elevated calcium and other problems..... what I got was the probability of it being a lymphoma. Next week s blood test will show, if the calcium is reduced the meds are working, i.e. its a lymphoma
Monica: what if it's bad food?
Jan: I didn't ask that question, because he seemed to indicate its a lymphoma, which would not have been caused by food.
