Tomorrow I go for a consultation on Lasik surgery. For those of you living under a rock - that's where they peel back part of your corner and then laser to reshape hopefully fixing myopia and astigmatism.
I've been talking about it for years, mostly because I have a irrational fear that we will have a horrible disaster where everything in life reverts 250 years and I'm okay for a little while but then one day someone steps on my glasses and I am effectively blind... oohhh, scary stuff. So even though that will not likely happen I still live in fear. I am not so much concerned with the appearance part because as you all know - I'm a sexy bitch :-) However I have gotten a no vote from my sister who says my glasses are actually part of my face because I've worn them since 4th grade. She says I'll look weird without them. Michael says I'm beautiful either way - he's actually seen me quite often sanse glasses but he's also my husband and it would take a striped shirt with poke-a-dot pants to tell me I look funny.
I've done some research and it looks like a fairly simple procedure. Real complications seem to be nill but a lot of people have halos and trouble with night vision but not everyone. Also no matter what, I'll need reading glasses because I am apparently 75 years old. However reading glasses are way sexier than full time glasses and because they're barely a prescription they cost less and I can get some funky pairs. Also, let's not rule out the sunglasses factor. I love them - can't really wear them currently. The procedure doesn't last forever but it does last for quite a while based on studies.
I'm not sure - I guess I'll know more after I talk to the doctor. Wish me 20/20 luck. :)
