Well tonight is opening night and I'm feeling a little caught-up with stuff which is nice.
So Sarah helped me dye my hair yesterday and it was quite the experience. Instead of using a normal box dye with chemicals and stuff (my poor hair is already so damaged that I don't know what to do with it), I used a henna dye (or "hippie dye", as we've dubbed it) that I bought from Strawberry Fields.
It was really weird and you actually had to boil it in water before you used it. When we put the mixture in water and started stirring it, trying to mix it completely it smelled AWFUL and looked like polyjuice potion or shit. It continued to smell badly and get more soup~y. Eventually it was the consistency that we wanted it to be and, after waiting, Sarah started applying what looked like diarrhea to my head.
The henna started to dry and crust off and, after waiting a half-an-hour for it to set in, I jumped in the shower and tried to wash it out. After being in the shower for awhile, washing it twice, and not feeling like I got it completley out of my hair, I got out and surrendered myself to having hair that felt like it had sand in it for the rest of the night. And it was seriously bad. I could turn my head over and shake my hair out and what would look like sand would fall out in chunks all over.
After rehearsal I took a shower and washed my hair twice. Then, this morning, I rinsed it out again. Finally both the smell and the sand stuff are gone. It doesn't look horribly different, but it is a little redder and a little darker.
Next time, I'm using the regular dye.
So I'm excited about the show tonight. The set looks really awesome and stuff is starting to come together. I'm a lot less frustrated about stuff now that I feel more in-sync with everything. I hope that all goes well and that the weather hangs in there for us (even though it's hot as can be).
I hope to see a lot of friendly faces out there when I'm prancing around. I think it's a great cast and I'm excited to see what everyone does with their parts tonight.
GO SHOW!
