Has anyone else tried to order the book from TheBookCellar.com? Because I've got at least two people now who are saying they haven't received the book and can't get their money back. If this is a scam, I need to know how big it is. (Interesting side note: my book isn't even on the website now. It's a Boston-based operation, so I don't even know how ( Read more... )

Egads, methinks we've uncovered a scandal. Now is the time I really wish I knew someone in the government.

mmm, I don't know how things work in America, but I'd be referring it onto the police/fraud squad/financial services authority or relevant body...

Yeah, that would be the Better Business Bureau...or the IRS I guess...the police wouldn't be possible since I'm in California and they're in Massachusetts, unfortunately.

I don't even know who we contact in America for fraud other than lawyers, hmm.

Police probably the best bet then - whoever is in Boston should refer the matter to the economic crime unit of the police in Boston. Or at least ask the police for advice as to whom the matter should be referred.
the BBB appears to be a non-profit publicly funded organisation, but there must be some official government funded body that deals with this, I mean it's a crime they're committing here!

After talking to you last night and seeing this on Cleo's post today, I went ahead and filed my complaint with the BBB.

Thanks for the link.

No problem, if you peruse these comments, you'll find really helpful information. I also filed a complaint with the FBI Internet scam department. Oh, and you might want to try reaching the company through serpone@chelmsford.com, the comment was screened to avoid the guy getting harassed, but I forwarded my complaint email there in hopes that he might have something to say about why we haven't gotten our money back. Worst case scenario, he ignores us and we take it to the legal system. So not so bad after all.

And I do believe that they have a field office right in Boston.
