do you think dance is a sport?: dance is more than a sport. you get strong doing it... you get winded... you need training...but its more of an art form i think because it involves musicality and creativity
what do you say to someone who looks at dancing as easy ((the “I could do that” attitude))? nothing. they will feel stupid enough when they try it.
what do you tell yourself to get over that “I can’t do this” hump? "if i can do this one more eight count, i dont have to get up early and run tomorrow morning"
why do you dance?: because i have to. its like breathing. its a part of me.
what is your favorite part of dance?: when i dance, especially in lyrical class doing a combo or something, everything just fades away and its me and the music and the steps. its so relaxing while still giving you such a sense of accomplishment when you leave completely wiped. i also love LOVE competition... the lights, the makeup, the costumes, the loud music, the smell of hairspray and spray on glitter, cheap hotel rooms, four people to a room and staying up late playing music trivia games, wall stretch and splits in the middle of some airport hotel lobby. AWESOME. and my newest favorite: cookies and milk training (aka so many situps and ab work you feel like your stomach has a hole burnt into it)
what is your least favorite part of dance?: stereotypes and politics and mirrors
brag a little. what are some of the strongest points of your dancing?: i really have no idea. but im really happy i teach two classes a week and sub here and there. i LOVE teaching.
how did you start dancing?: my mom signed me up for ballet class, bought me a cute pink little leotard and plopped me into class. she had NO idea what she was getting herself into haha.
