I hadn't heard about Sam and Weir. I can easily see Weir being downgraded to recurring. Very much like Gen. Hammond -- its the team that gets the most airtime. And if its by the actor's choice, the fans really should have nothing to say about it. If its not, then we just watch and see if the producers know what they are doing. *fingers crossed*
Sam. I'd like to believe they will use her wisely. I've always liked her, but I can see some kinks in the transistion. Not among the characters -- face it, they're military. We should be seeing changing faces a lot more than we do. I think the characters will mesh well, but they'll need to be careful about Sam kicking Rodney out of his role as know-it-all-scientist-who-saves-the-day.
I think its cool that Jewel Staite has a job on a show that I already watch. I just hope I like her character. I understand the she's just going to be there for a few episodes. Has that changed? I am totally open to new characters, no matter who plays them. (Of course, I heart Doggett. :P )
I'd like to believe that Sam will be used wisely and without totally overshadowing Teyla. There might be good rumors/hints about some solid Teyla action in season 4 but I'm still worried.
Last I heard about Jewel was she was going to be in over half the episodes. 13-15, I think.
Comes back in March for the US, but it's been 'Hello, my Canadian comrades' for me ;)
According to Jewel Staite's blog back in mid-December, she is only contracted to do 3 episodes. She said she didn't know where the 13 episodes figure came from, and she just asked people to give her a chance, and maybe they'd bring her back at a later time. She also emphasized that her character is NOT the replacement for Beckett. (And then said some very charming things about Paul McGillion.) I tried to find the entry again, to refresh my memory, but couldn't.
Of course, this was a month ago. I try not to get too spoilery, so I don't know if there has, indeed, been a change there.
March, huh? I think I was better off when I didn't know that.

When's the show back on, anyway? I miss it hard.
