A Tale of Two Laptops

My old and busted Dell is, well, busted. In a lot of ways. About 10 months ago the hard drive died so we (well, Nate) replaced it. Last September the LCD stopped working. Well, it would stop working, then start again, then stop working, then start again. It gets really dark but you can see what's on the screen if you shine a light on it directly. So the other night I went over to Jen and Nate's to hook said O&B Dell up to a monitor and everything on it was all weird. Like at first we thought it went back to a system restore point (for no apparent reason, the damn thing hadn't been used in 4 months at that point) but all the files and programs were there, but it's like they had been moved around. Like someone snuck into the hard drive when I wasn't using it to play a practical joke on me. Then two nights ago when I brought the thing to my parents house to hook it up to another monitor, I messed with it for a bit and then it, randomly, ceased working telling me "no boot device available." So I brought it back to Nate and Jen's. Jen put Linux disk in it. It booted up with Windows.

Logical explanation? Nate simply asked "Did it get struck by lightning?"

In light of the crazy, schizophrenic behavior of the Dell, I am naming it Britney.

My other laptop is a Gateway, which I am not so crazy about but it is clearly far more functional than Britney. I am naming that laptop Kevin.

Because of Britney's erratic behavior it has lost custody of all my files to Kevin.
