what started your reading habit?

Haw haw, I just read in the 'Green Dragon' in librarything:. "I quickly got into the book buying habit as well as the reading one...for slightly mercenary reasons, I will admit. To encourage reading, my parents covered half the cost of any book that I bought. Which meant that my money went that much further if I bought books than if I bought something like candy or toys."  I have very few anxieties about our girl being 'blah' about books, but THAT is an excellent strategy.
