I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted. Didja miss me? Yeah, you missed me.
In no particular order, here's what's been going on with me.
- Granny's funeral went really well, a really good send off for her. Mom seems to be coping, and she and Dad took a holiday in Cornwall about a week after the funeral which seemed to do them both a world of good.
- I think Granny's death and a few other things have left me in a depression again. I don't often talk about it, because it seems to self-indulgently whiney, but I was in a sort of shallow state of depression for most of my teen years. I shook it off when I moved away to go to uni, but it was around for ages. Now it's back, not as bad as before, but I just can't get up the nerve to leave the house much or get in ouch with anyone, and I keep feeling like I've somehow failed at life. It sucks. I think, at some point, I'll have some sort of huge cathertic event that'll get me back on the right track, but for now I'm a bit miserable. I could seriously do with some therapy, but I can't afford to go private right now, and the doctor says she wont refer me unless I'm already on anti-depressants (which is so the wrong fucking attitude) and I'm not going on anti-depressants if my life depends on it. I already have drug sensitivities and I've seen how much they screw with people who don't, so no thanks. So yeah, please be patient with me if I'm not my usual, chirpy self for a while.
- My cousin Tim's wedding will be next weekend, which I'm looking forward to. It's my Dad's side of the family, so I get to spend a day with the relatives I actually like, while wearing a great dress. Not too shabby. Also, Aunty Val and Uncle Ian will be there and we get on really well. They are lovely people and could make anybody cheerful. They were at Granny's funeral as well, which I fet helped the whole thing go a lot better, a few optimistic, well balanced Forresters to counterbalance the freaky, sniping Daws. So yeah, I hope everything goes well for the big day. I love my cousins, and though I've only met Tim's wife-to-be once, it was obvious how well matched they were and what a lovely woman she is.
- I really miss having Joanne nearby. And it's not like I can just call her for a chat, because she never picks up her phone and I keep forgetting to ask for her house number (Joanne, if you read this...). To be honest, her moving away has underlined for me just how few friends I have, and how poor I am at making them. Seriously, I have maybe ten people I'd class as real friends, most of whom I never see more than once or twice a year, one of whom I've never even met. But yes, Joanne, I miss you, call me and we'll go do something. That goes for the rest of you too.
God, this is a real pity party, isn' it.
- Buckaroo Banzai is fucking awesome. I have no idea what it was about, but I want to watch it again and again and again. This is why I love Peter Weller so much man, he doesn't just wear the big red glasses, he works them.
- I hate my middle fingernails. My fingernails seem to be all different shapes; I actually looking in a book on manicures at work to confirm this; my thumb and ring finger nails are square, my index and pinkie finger nails are oval and my middle finger nails are shell shaped, which means that they grow out as well as along, which means they cut into my fingers and make them sore. They suck! So you know, if I give anyone the finger, I mean it doubly. I mean, this is the pain I'm wishing upon you, bitch. Yeah.
- Y; The Last Man is super cool, if only for the scene when republican housewives storm the Whitehouse. Also, the monkey is cute.
- I read Harry Potter 7 in 13 hours over the course of one Saturday. Then I found out that I had noisy new neighbours when they spent that night partying until 5 am, when I had work on the sunday. And no, it wouldn't have made it any better if they'd invited me to the party, because I am, at heart, a cantankerous, misanthropic 80-year-old, who hates fun and wishes for the death of happiness. Mwahaha.
- I spring cleaned yesterday, and let me tell you, if you ever want to scare yourself, take your refrigerator apart and look, really look, at the dirt. EW! I also peeled the paper ticket off a tin of pasta that I won on a charity tombola about four months ago, to find it had gone past it's sell by date when I was still a teenager. Somebody was awfully civic minded, weren't they.
- Lemonade is niiiiiiiiiiice.
That's all for now, I'll come back and whinge some more in a few days perhaps. For now though;
