O hai.

I've left LiveJournal in the face of the current trainwreck of a new LJ "update" and the atrocious behaviour of one Ilya Dronov (aka igrick), head of LJ Russia. This man pushed a system which he personally preferred, and ignored the reports of many beta testers telling him his system was not only buggy but largely unusable. The outcry of thousands of users, most of which were paid, fell on uncaring ears; he mocks the English-speaking community as "angry Americans" (because America is the only country that speaks English, amirite?) and brushes us off, telling us to "get used to it".

People have reported migraines and headaches from attempting to use this broken system. Load times are through the roof and people report ridiculous load times when attempting to use the icon browser. The removal of comment subject lines has crippled organization in many communities and caused real, physical injury to many users due to the lack of trigger warnings.

And igrick won't let them put those subject lines back. No, he just makes passive-aggressive smilies on his Twitter. LJ's constant "We're taking your feedback into consideration!" would be so much more reassuring if this man wasn't constantly tweeting along the lines of "I love making Americans cry". And I'm not even getting into the accounts which have been switched to automatic payments without consent. You guys might want to check that, by the way. They can't touch mine as this one's permanent and all my RP accounts have never been paid, but if you've ever given them a cent I suggest you check to make sure igrick hasn't decided to steal your money along with his general dickery. Climb a tree of dicks, Ilya Dronov. I hope you choke on every single one.

When a company no longer listens to thousands of paying users, it is time to jump ship. My permanent LJ will be used only as a mirror to my shiny new Dreamwidth account, and to check PMs from those few on my flist who stay and might want to use LJ PMs. And hell, I might as well crosspost to my dusty old InsaneJournal, too. Because Dreamwidth lets me do that.
