I am going to get back into livejournaling. It's been four-ish months since I've posted on this journal, and about that long since I've commented anywhere. I'm going to have to renew my account to force myself to keep up with it again once my money isn't tied up. Not that I have anything much to journal about lately ( Read more... )

People on your server are actually running ZA? LULZ. My server is full of noobs. We can barely get Kara together. I don't know much about high-level instances just because I've never had a lvl 70 before but I do understand that, man, this server is behind. It must be a little newer than many servers or something. It's definitely a highly populated server though. Many, many ppl on it, sometimes when I log on I get stuck in a queue.

I don't have auctioneer. I might have to look into that.

I don't know if you remember this but at first I was playing a hunter. I leveled a hunter up to like 52 or 53 or something and then I decided that I wanted to be a healer instead so I made my priest and it suits me much better. But my hunter had his fishing and cooking both maxed out for his level, so I might have to head back to Azeroth on my priest and get that all hooked up. I used to fish like crazy all the time but with the priest I was otherwise occupied. Also on the hunter you need to constantly be feeding your pet so I had a reason to fish.

Anyway I suppose I have to sacrifice more leveling time to do that. And anyway anything that adds +healing is AWESOME. My healer is so hooked up, he does like +600 bonus healing per spell with almost a 10% to crit. But yeah.

Note about hunters! I run a lot of instances as healer so I've come to understand a lot about the grouping dynamic and as far as I can tell, hunters will never need to tank in high-level instances. A class is a class once you get up to higher levels. Tank is tank, DPS is DPS, heals is heals. That appeals to me GREATLY. I like having a tank. Spam heal is fun but only if it's on ONE PERSON!

Enchanting. My priest just hit enchanting level 305 today and has enough mats to be 320 quite easily. But the only thing is I don't make money off that, I in fact LOST close to 500g off enchanting because I had to buy so many damn mats!! It was a nightmare!! Getting from 290 to 300 took SO LONG and was SO EXPENSIVE. But I did it and it should be smooths sailing now.

I also do herbology as my other profession just because there aren't many on my server so I make a lot of money off the shit I pick. That's how I could afford my epic ground mount.

My server isn't that progressed (I think we have one guild that's made it to Zul, everyone else is dipping their toes into Kara before running back to Hellfire heroics), but there's a slow build now to get there. It's like one of those sticky balls you can get from quarter machines at the grocery store. The ones you throw really hard at the wall, and then watch as it slowly rolls down, but sometimes it gets stuck so you poke it and it starts again? That's pretty much what my server progression is like.

Most servers are experiencing high pop now. It's all the kids who got the game for Christmas, and it'll die down once their trail periods are up.

Definitely get auctioneer. It is a boon. I lost my auctioneer data recently and I was SO FREAKING MAD, because it had basically everything ever sold on my server and I very rarely had to repost things because I knew what people were willing to pay on average. Now I have to attack thottbot every time I get a blue, and that ain't cool.

And fishing. GOD, if you never listen to another WoW related thing I suggest, max out your fishing! It's a steady source of income (and profitable, what with the fish themselves + primals and leather/cloth/ore/bolts you can fish up and the odd goldenscale vendorfish). NOBODY ever wants to level their fishing, so the competition for good spots is next to nil and there is very little chance that the market will ever be flooded.

And +healing will make your crits even sexier. *nodnod*

omg I hate LFG. You will not believe the number of times I've been dropped into a group with no tank and people expect *my pet* to be able to handle it. It was fine in SM because we were all a bit over-leveled for most of it and they were competent friends of mine, but I've had to fake disconnects to get out of things like that in PUGs. It's just... GRAAAGH. I'm pretty sure most of the people playing on Blade's Edge have never rolled any class but rogue.

The thing about a class is a class is that my preferred class is *three* classes, so I'm fucked anytime I try to get a PUG in Outlands now. I either have to tank, which is fine, even though I'm more DPS geared and spec'd, or they try to get me to heal, which, when you're a 0/50/10 drood and wearing quest caster greens, is not going to end well.

If I had my way, every person in the game would have to play a druid to level 30. After that, the number of idiots who have no concept of group dynamics would crash dramatically.

If you want to get money, consider putting a halt on leveling your enchanting for a bit and just sell your DE mats. Solo a few pre-BC instances and get phat lewts -> DE everything that isn't of the monkey/eagle/bear -> auction -> profit! And then, thank god that you aren't a leatherworker. Heavy Clefthoof crap ftfl. I know once the next expansion is out that I'm going to want to stab the entire Blizzard staff with my skinning knife, because the last 7 points have been fucking crazy and I've still got 8 more to go. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY CLEFTHOOFS YOU HAVE TO SKIN TO GET 7 LWING SKILLUPS? I AM SINGLE-HANDEDLY DESTROYING THE NAGRAND ECOSYSTEM. I AM A MONSTER.

*cough*

Tradeskills are not my friend.
